Accessibility Statement

Patchwork Hub is committed to making this website as accessible as possible. We have developed our website following web standards and accessibility guidelines, and aim to meet and where possible exceed level AA of the W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. However, we are a new social enterprise and are still testing and improving our site. If you have suggestions, issues or expertise in order to help us improve the accessibility of our website, please do get in touch

Digital Accessibility

We have developed our website to meet and where possible exceed level AA of the W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. These guidelines measure a website’s digital accessibility to improve the experience for people with disabilities and in so doing, make websites easier for everyone. We're currently working with experts to test if our website is technically compliant to Level AAA of the W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

We aspire to become the only non-disability specific job board to reach AAA  level of digital accessibility (actually as a disabled-led team what we actually aspire to is to push non-disability specific job boards to make their websites as accessible as ours). Though we've come a long way in achieving this, as a brand new social enterprise with a very small team and limited resources, we are not there yet. For that reason, we always welcome feedback and expertise from anyone using our platform.

Text size

The text size on this site is set in a way that makes it resizable in any browser, should you find it too small to read comfortably.

Headings

Headings are used on each page on the website. They make it easier to read pages by providing visual structure and help people using screen readers and other assistive technologies to navigate the site.

Links

Whenever possible, links have been written to make sense when they are accessed out of the original context. This helps visitors who may use a list of links to move around the site, and all visitors to understand the destination of links.

Content

The content of the site has been written and tested to be readable by as many people as possible. Where possible, we have used plain, simple, jargon-free language that's easy to understand. We are guided by The Crystal Mark Standard guidelines (alongside Flesch-Kincaid Reading Ease).

BBC My Web My Way

If you need further help in making the web easier to use, including our platform, BBC’s My Web My Way is a good starting point. Packed with jargon-free tips and information, this fantastic resource can help you easily change the settings of your web browser, computer, keyboard and mouse.

Exceptions to Accessibility

Sometimes recruiting employers’ internal procedures require them to accept applications on their own company’s or third party websites rather than our platform. We are unable to guarantee the accessibility of these websites. Having said this, no candidate should be unable to complete an application due to an accessibility barrier on a third party website and we ask that the candidate let us know by either reporting the job post or getting in touch directly via our contact form so that we can notify the employer.
