Job Description

Location: UK based – You will be required to be in our London offices 2/3 days a week and to travel regularly to Partner Practices within your defined area. We are looking for candidates to cover: London and the South East of England and South West of England.

 

The main purpose of the role:  

The main purpose of this role is to coach, develop, support, and lead new Partners and Advisers throughout the 4 Terms of the Academy Programme to help them maximise their business potential, objectives, and goals. You will be the primary point of contact between new Partners and Advisers and St. James’s Place (SJP).

This relationship is key to the New Joiner experience and is delivered by a unified approach to development for all new Partners and Advisers on their route to the Partnership.

You will be a key member of 10 strong team, and this is a great opportunity to achieve real satisfaction through supporting a high-performance team of Partners and Advisers. The role provides the real opportunity for self-development and progression.

 

What you’ll be doing:

Managing and prioritising your own diary and workload to enable achievement of the following key elements of the role:

1. Supervision

  • Holding regulatory responsibility of ‘Nominated Supervisor’ for a team of new Partners and Advisers in Direct Supervision, ensuring they maximise their business potential within SJP and supporting the achievement of corporate objectives.
  • Providing support for Partners and Advisers in achieving their professional qualifications and maintaining knowledge through CPD.
  • Appropriately monitoring Partner and Adviser finances to ensure that the ‘fit and proper’ requirements are met, and any financial arrangements agreed with Partners and Advisers are managed prudently to minimise the risk of financial loss to SJP.
  • Developing new Partners' and Advisers' Advisory, Commercial and Client Acquisition skillsets, knowledge, and application, to enable them to perform their roles capably and competently and provide high quality Advice and ongoing service to their clients.
  • Ensuring that Partners and Advisers develop the knowledge and skills necessary to write, document and submit business. Contracting with the Partner or Adviser to agree appropriate actions and deliverables necessary to achieve desired key performance measures.
  • Take accountability for the activity and behaviour of supervised Partners and Advisers, as well as personal key performance indicators.
  • Identifying and actively intervening to address concerns regarding conduct or performance Issues, implementing measures as necessary, and with appropriate and relevant support.
  • Developing and maintaining meaningful high contact relationships and networks which have impact and influence within the Academy, Establishment, Partnership, and across the wider SJP business.

2. New Partner/Financial Adviser Relationship

  • Providing a framework of support for new Partners and Advisers which encourages retention and prepares them for a successful and sustainable career within the Partnership, creating a sense of purpose & belonging, providing appropriate and well-rounded pastoral care for the Partner/Adviser.

3. Coaching Developing new Partners' and Advisers'

  • Advisory, Commercial and Client Acquisition skillsets, knowledge, and application, to enable them to perform their roles capably and competently and provide high quality Advice and ongoing service to their clients.
  • Ensuring that Partners and Advisers develop the knowledge and skills necessary to write, document and submit business.

4. Performance Management

  • Contracting with the Partner or Adviser to agree appropriate actions and deliverables necessary to achieve desired key performance measures.

5. Stakeholder Management

  • Developing and maintaining meaningful high contact relationships and networks which have impact and influence within the Academy, Establishment, Partnership, and across the wider SJP business.

Who we’re looking for:

We are looking for a candidate who has:

  • QCF Level 4 qualification e.g., the CII Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning, CF30 accreditation and competence at a level commensurate with a CF30 nominated supervisor.
  • Experience of working in and an understanding of the Financial Services sector and strong understanding of current FCA regulations.
  • Excellent relationship management skills, with the expectation that you will spend the majority of the week with new joiners, embedding them into the SJP culture.
  • Ability to analyse key performance indicators and trend analysis to develop a clear understanding of each Partner business and skills to operate as a problem solver, colleague and guide in equal measure
  • Ability to adopt a client outcome and service-oriented approach at all times, conduct yourself with the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. Maintain a working knowledge of the company’s Development & Accreditation Scheme and other Compliance regulation and how it impacts on the Partner or Adviser.
