Overview

This role offers a unique opportunity to work across both the Property and Security functions, by engaging with 42 Arms Length Bodies (ALBs). You will have the chance to lead individual projects, as well as manage cross-cutting issues that require collaboration with teams beyond your immediate team. The role provides an exciting and dynamic environment where you'll engage with a wide range of stakeholders across multiple ALBs.

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Building and nurturing meaningful relationships with ALBs, cross government partners, internal teams, external organisations to drive and deliver shared goals. 
  • Leading the development of a connected and inclusive community across Property and Security functions. Encouraging open dialogue, knowledge sharing and learning. 
  • Designing and delivering impactful engagement plans that connect stakeholders with purpose.
  • Ensuring communications are clear, relevant and aligned with strategic priorities to foster trust and sustained engagement.
  • Taking ownership of ad-hoc projects, commissions and data requests, ensuring timely delivery. 
  • Acting as a trusted liaison between DCMS, ALBs and wider Government. Escalating concerns with clarity and diplomacy, while working collaboratively with partners. 
  • Presenting clear, data driven reporting to senior leadership, including the Executive Board.
  • Identifying  emerging risks across ALBs and contribute to the development of comprehensive, proactive risk management strategies.

Person specification

Essential requirements:

  • An in depth knowledge of property and security Strategies.
  • Proven ability to engage with senior stakeholders across diverse teams and organisations, effectively navigating and managing complex relationships.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to deliver clear, concise, and audience tailored messages, including presenting challenging recommendations with confidence and tact.
  • Adept at cultivating and sustaining positive, collaborative relationships both within the team and with external partners.
  • Highly skilled in interpreting complex information, handling large datasets, and leading data driven recommendations. 
  • Committed to excellence, promoting diversity, and fostering an inclusive, collaborative environment that motivates teams around a shared vision.

Desirable skills:

  • Previous experience in security and / or property role, is desirable but not essential, full training and support will be provided. Access to technical qualifications and management courses is available.
  • Experience with ALBs is beneficial for understanding their governance and requirements.
  • Proactive, suggesting innovative solutions to enhance processes and practices.

Selection process details

This vacancy is using Success Profiles (opens in a new window), and will assess your Behaviours, Strengths and Experience.

Interview

The interview process will assess behaviours and strengths and will include a presentation which will be provided prior to interview.

You will not be made aware of the strengths being assessed prior to your interview.

Further Information

If the vacancy is offered as FTA/Loan, existing Civil Servants must join on a Loan basis only. Prior agreement to be released on loan must be obtained before commencing the application process. In the case of Civil Servants, the terms of the loan will be agreed between the home and host department and the Civil Servant. This includes grade on return.

This role is full time only. Applicants who wish to work an alternative pattern are welcome to apply however your preferred working pattern may not be available and you should discuss this with the vacancy holder before applying.
