Team Overview

The main purpose of the role is to both to provide assurance over accurate and compliant financial reporting by the group. In addition as a senior finance manager to provide oversight on certain areas of reporting and to support the annual close activities.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop & maintain SJP’s cross-business Financial Control Framework, in relation to both the Group and its key subsidiaries, including; maintaining the ICFR policy, risk assessment, data management and reporting to stakeholders
  • Develop and operate a control testing methodology and processes as well as policy and process to address the evaluation and resolution of identified deficiencies
  • Ensure the development and delivery of high quality training content for those with roles and responsibilities linked to the financial control framework
  • Provide consultancy advice to Finance and the wider business to support the identification and management of risks in relation to financial reporting
  • Oversee process and controls over certain key reported information produced outside of Finance (eg Gender Pay Gap and Directors remuneration reporting)
  • Oversight of certain statutory entities (SJPPS, SJPMS)
  • Oversight of the accounting function supporting the St James’s Place Foundation
  • Supporting the statutory close process, co-ordination of statutory entity sign offs (working with CoSec) and the iXBRL tagging process
  • Leading a team of 4 finance staff

Who we’re looking for:

  • Broad and comprehensive understanding of financial reporting, specifically IFRS and UK-FRS
  • Strong experience of risk management, and previous experience of operating a SOX type controls environment, and the ability to clearly and concisely articulate principles of risk and control to audiences of varying levels of topic understanding
  • Proficiency in the use and development of user-friendly technology solutions, in particular experience in PowerApps and PowerBi would be very helpful
  • Excellent Excel skills, to provide guidance on best practice to others as well as to suitably manipulate data to produce and analyse MI
  • Fully qualified Accountant
