Working closely with the Strategic People Partner the role holder will provide a vital HR partnering service to their designated Directorates including relationship management, identifying interventions, management of ER cases, assessing relevant employment law changes and other cyclical activity such as promotions. This role requires an experienced and robust individual with relevant previous experience and strong influencing skills.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work closely with the aligned Strategic People Partner to deliver a seamless and valued HR partnering service that focuses across the people life cycle.
  • Provide a comprehensive People Partnering service at an operational level for business area managers working closely with the SPP to understand strategy, develop plans and implement locally.
  • Identify and utilise opportunities to coach line managers or provide training in areas of people management or ER.
  • Review and maintain succession plans and workforce strategy plans for the long term requirements of business areas.
  • Work with assigned business areas to help them understand SJP Talent Management strategy and to implement talent management practices.
  • Interpret employment law and good practice guidance, ensuring changes are communicated, understood and made to policies, frameworks and procedures.
  • Support the Divisional promotions process, ensuring centrally defined process is adhered to.
  • Undertake job evaluations for assigned business areas providing expertise and challenge.
  • Manage ER cases as required.
  • MI provision and analysis.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Comprehensive and up to date knowledge of employment law and Employee Relations/general HR best practices.
  • Broad HR generalist experience to enable to resolution of diverse HR issues.
  • Good understanding of key employee life cycle events for employees and alignment with core SJP ER polices & practices.
  • Excellent understanding of the regulatory environment, ideally from working previously within FS.
  • Ideally qualified to CIPD Level 7 or equivalent or working towards this.
  • Strong understanding of the SJP business model and the needs of different business areas that interact with the Advisory team.
  • Creative thinker/problem solver with independent, pragmatic approach to problem solving and decision making.
  • Able to use complex analytical thought processes to deal with complex issues and queries from business areas sensitively and appropriately.
  • Excellent communication skills and able to apply emotional intelligence and diplomacy to a diverse range of people and situations.
  • Resilient and able to remain calm, professional and positive when dealing with differing management styles/personalities.
  • Highly developed influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Able to deal tactfully and sensitively at all times ensuring all discussions remain absolutely confidential.
  • Commitment to exceptional customer service and strong drive to continuously improve.   

Special Requirements:

Some travel, typically within the UK may be required.
