The successful candidate will form part of the small, close-knit team known as the Government Whips' Admin Unit that provides high quality support to the team of 16 Government Whips in the performance of their Parliamentary duties. This is an exciting and integral role in a busy office working right at the heart of Parliament and how it interacts with Government.
The main objective of this busy and high-profile team is to facilitate many of the daily interactions between the Government and Opposition in Parliament, known as the 'Usual Channels', with the ultimate aim of easing the passage of the Government's legislative agenda.
The responsibilities of the role can flex based on requirements, but the team's main shared duties include:
The post holder will report to the Head of Parliamentary Support.
There is an expectation that when the House of Commons is sitting, the post holder will work longer than normal hours, for which a private office allowance is payable. Annual leave is usually taken only during Parliamentary recesses.

Please note that this role requires SC clearance, which would normally need 5 years UK residency in the past 5 years. This is not an absolute requirement, but supplementary checks may be needed where individuals have not lived in the UK for that period. If you do not hold SC clearance you must be willing to undergo vetting clearance. This may mean your security clearance (and therefore your appointment) will take longer or, in some cases, not be possible.

A reserve list may be held for a period of 12 months from which further appointments can be made.

Current Civil Servants (all contract types) will need to ensure that they are still employed as a civil servant at the point of starting in the relevant new post.
