You will join St. James’s Place on a temporary full-time contract and complete a year long placement with us.
During this time you will work in a specified division, this will give you full exposure to that division and help you understand how it interacts with other areas of the business. On completion of your Year Placement, we would aim to fast track you into one of our graduate programmes on completion of your degree.

About the role
Valuation Services sits within the Partner Finance Operations team. Partner Finance Operations are a team of 20 people, with 4 roles sitting within the technical Valuation Services sub-team. The wider team encompasses a wide variety of skillsets, backgrounds and experience. There is a hard-working, supportive and sociable culture within Partner Finance Operations, and there’s always space to learn, collaborate and develop alongside colleagues.
Promoting confidence in the Valuation model is vital for maintaining the integrity of the Partner Finance proposition. The Valuation model feeds business-critical Management Information (MI); and underpins the Partner Finance loan book.
The role also plays an important part in the Business Sale process (BSP) and involves direct contact with Partners during what can be a sensitive transaction often aligned to a major life event (divorce, retirement, exit etc.) As such it is important to deliver a good service and on promises made to Partners. Failing to do so has an impact on this key recruitment and retention tool.
During this placement year, you’ll work alongside your Valuation Services and Operations colleagues to:
- Support the ongoing maintenance of the actuarial Valuation Model used to value SJP Partner businesses.
- Contribute to the delivery of projects relating to development of the Valuation Model and/or wider Divisional objectives.
- Be a point of contact and respond to the Field Management Team and Partnership queries on aspects of the Valuation Model and related processes.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the Partner Finance Operations team.
About you
You will need to be in your penultimate year of study and on track to achieve a minimum of 2:2. you can be studying any subject, but those studying Finance, Economics, Maths, Data and Process focussed subjects will find this of particular interest.
This role would be great for those candidates looking to pursue Graduate programmes and careers in Actuarial, Data Analysis, Process Improvement & Change and consultancy focussed areas.

What Happens Next?
Our process is the same for each of our Graduate opportunities, so once you have completed the application form, we will invite you to complete a Job Focussed Assessment (JFA). If successful after the JFA, you will be invited to complete an online video interview and if successful at this stage we will invite you to the final stage of the process, that consists of a face to face assessment centre.
