Victim and Witness Commissioning and Implementation Unit 

The Victim and Witness Commissioning and Implementation Unit is recruiting permanently for up to two EO Commissioning Officers to join a busy team working to support the commissioning of victim services across a range of crime types and provide associated administration and policy support. 

This campaign is being run externally and so is open to all who consider themselves suitable for the roles and meet the eligibility criteria in the wider advert within Civil Service Jobs. 

Location:

Successful candidates will have the option to be based at one of the following locations:
1.    102 Petty France, London 
2.    5 Wellington Place, Leeds (occasional travel between Leeds and London may be required)

In order for Policy Group to meet its evolving business needs all Policy Group staff are expected to attend their base location (102 Petty France or 5 Wellington Place Leeds) at least two days a week.  This hybrid working arrangement is not contractual and as a result staff could be asked to attend their base location more frequently.

•    Flexible working arrangements between base locations, MoJ Hubs and home.
If we receive applications from more suitable candidates than we have vacancies for at this time, we may hold suitable applicants on a reserve list for 12 months, and future vacancies requiring the same skills and experience could be offered to candidates on the reserve list without a new competition.

You will be responsible for the following activities: 

1.    Overseeing the maintenance of the Grants Database, ensuring the accuracy, quality and effectiveness of our records.
2.    Administrating accurate and timely payments and documentation to grant recipients, ensuring a robust audit trail with the correct approvals.  
3.    Managing the shared mailbox, ensuring that our stakeholders and Grant Recipients have timely and helpful responses to correspondence and queries.
4.    Managing communications to grant recipients, which will include drafting letters and using mail merge functionality, to ensure all grant recipients have timely and streamlined information on victims funding and policy.   
5.    Leading the drafting of parliamentary and correspondence activity. This includes parliamentary questions, freedom of information requests, ministerial and public correspondence, and topical and oral briefing requests. 
6.    Contributing to clear and concise advice and briefing for Ministers and senior officials. This could include briefing for meetings with our stakeholders. 
7.    Leading on record-keeping and the management of logistical arrangements for key stakeholder meetings and grant management meetings, organising agendas and papers, taking accurate minutes and tracking actions.  
8.    Developing a strong understanding of the requirements and terms of our grant agreements to deliver victim services, in order to identify good practice and spot emerging issues and risks. 
9.    Working collaboratively and credibly with a wide range of internal stakeholders including the legal, finance, commercial and the central grants team, as well as external stakeholders including other government departments and grant recipients. 
10.    Contribute to the work of the wider Commissioning and Implementation Unit and be an active participant in corporate activities to enhance life in the Unit and wider directorate. 

Skills and Experience

Essential:

•    Confident at using data and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
•    Detail orientated 
•    Ability to work flexibly and at pace 
•    Good written communication, with the ability to take meeting minutes 
•    Ability to build positive working relationships with others 
•    Excellent organisational skills

Desirable:

•    A passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable individuals 
•    Experience of mail merges
