Job Description

We are looking for an adaptable and efficient team player who is highly organised. This is a high-profile area of work. Our events are attended by over 10,000 potential teachers looking for advice and support each year. You will need to have a strong customer focus.

What will the successful candidate be doing?

You will assist with the delivery of effective, value for money events to encourage interest in teacher training. Our events provide inspiration, advice and guidance for attendees and support quality applications for teacher training.  Working closely with the Events Logistics Manager, you will support the planning and implementation of face-to-face and virtual events. An important part of the role will be monitoring the performance of events making recommendations for improved effectiveness.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Support the Events Logistics Manager to plan and deliver the Get Into Teaching events, including both face-to-face and virtual events. Approximately 60-80 events per year.
  • Establish and maintain stakeholder relationships, including initial teacher training providers, trainee teachers, teachers and other external agencies.
  • Manage recruitment and attendance of event staff including teachers, advisers and DfE staff, ensuring appropriate staffing levels based on the number of expected attendees at each event.
  • Produce and distribute briefings for event staff, ensuring campaign messages and logistics information relevant and up to date.
  • Manage relationship with key initial teacher training providers and service providers, encouraging event attendance and managing logistics.
  • Evaluate event activity undertaken.
  • Work flexibly to support specialist marketing colleagues across the wider team on a range of responsibilities including building email communications.

About you 

We are looking for someone who is adaptable, an efficient organiser and team player. You will be required to liaise with colleagues across the Division, policy teams and external stakeholders and suppliers.

Essential skills include:

  • Good planning and project management skills, and ability to manage multiple projects at pace, delivering on time and within budget. 
  • Able to develop constructive and collaborative relationships, and work effectively and flexibly in a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and experience developing quality and impactful communications.
  • You should have, and champion, a strong customer focus and a clear understanding of organisational and audience needs.
  • Ability to work independently but willing to seek assistance from others when necessary.

Travel to events, including overnight stays and Saturdays is expected, and by applying, you are agreeing to this commitment (approx. 15-20 events per year). You will also be required to assist with the delivery of some virtual/online events.

Desirable skills

  • Experience planning and delivering events.
  • Experience of working in a marketing environment.

Desirable criteria will only be assessed in the event of a tie break situation to make an informed decision.

Travel to your primary office location will not be paid for by DfE, but costs for travel to an office which is not your main location will be covered.
