At FCDO Services, we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings, courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech, and a whole lot more. Our work is as varied and vital as it gets, but we never lose sight of our people. Their skills, aspirations and growth mean as much as the global mission we're on. In our world, it all matters.
Our Knowledge and Information team has a wide range of responsibilities – these include reviewing and transferring records for preservation at The National Archives.
The growth in digital records means the team are embracing the use of AI and other advanced technologies to tackle the complex challenges we face.
The work is vital and protects the UK’s relations with other countries, as well as our defence interests, the intelligence services, and the personal data of individuals, all within a secure legal framework.
Shape the way we use AI across our organisation
Here, your role will involve more than content management. As we’ve continued our migration to M365, and the more our teams have adopted and adapted to SharePoint, we’ve realised there is more we can do. We can introduce more automation, AI and workflows to help with some of the more manual tasks. And, while we can use SharePoint to help with this, we need your expertise to make it happen.
This is an opportunity to shape how we use AI across the organisation. Your work will have a visible, tangible impact. Not only on the way we operate today, but in how we work together to defend the UK’s security interests.
You’ll be part of a small team, exploring the creation of AI Agents. Gathering requirements from different teams across FCDO Services to establish what’s needed to develop and embed solutions that bring real benefit. Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, customising and maintaining SharePoint applications across SharePoint Online and OnPrem environments.
You’ll provide solutions that enhance collaboration, document management and business process automation. And, acting as first line information governance support for FCDO Services’ Rosa tenant and M365 tenant, you’ll advocate for good knowledge and information management throughout the organisation.
Use your technical knowledge to help protect the UK’s global interests
To succeed in this role, you’ll need experience of Modern SharePoint Online development, Power Apps and Power Automate. As well as being self-motivated, with the ability to take on a development journey from scratch. Be proactive, collaborative and innovative in your approach to your work. And, with strong troubleshooting and documentation skills, can create, develop and maintain lists, libraries, content types and permissions.
Ideally, you’ll also have experience of Power BI, integration with external systems, and project management or business analyst experience. However, this isn’t essential. More importantly, you’ll have strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to approach people to gather information and requirements.
Discover the support you need to grow your career further
Working with us you’ll help keep people, information, and assets safe around the world. It’s a role you can feel proud of; and we aim to make every part of your career just as rewarding. That’s why when you join us, expect to receive a competitive salary, good holiday entitlement and a Civil Service Pension.
Along with this, you’ll also have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café, and restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It's a great set of benefits made to support all you do, and all you need.
