This is a high-profile role in a tight-knit, high-performing policy team. You will need to be able to think creatively about complex policy at pace and take a strategic approach to policy development. You will also need to build strong relationships and work effectively with policy partners cross-Whitehall as we refine our proposals and take legislation through parliament.
Key tasks will include:
Ensuring coherent policy development with support from diverse stakeholders (HMT, BEIS, the CMA and the tech sector);
Supporting ministerial and senior decision-making through in-person briefings and submissions; and
Leading a policy workstream of 1-2 Band Bs

The ideal candidate would have the following key skills and experience:
Essential requirements:
Ability to think creatively about complex policy and take a strategic approach to policy development;
Strong verbal and written communication skills;
Ability to build strong relationships both within HMG and externally;
Ability to manage long and short-term priorities to deliver high quality work at pace; and
Ability to work with senior officials and ministers, providing constructive support to decision-makers in pressurised environments.
Desirable skills:
Experience working on competition or other market/economic policy;
Experience working on technology, innovation, or data policy, especially working with external stakeholders and/or
Regulatory, Bill and/or other legal experience.
