Join the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) in this key specialist role as a Senior Qualified Accountant.
This is a role offering significant scope, with responsibility across delivery, policy, strategic direction, and leadership.
In Service Superintendent Submarines (SUSM) is the superintendent for fleet time and upkeep submarine engineering projects in Devonport including Astute, Trafalgar and Vanguard Classes.
These include base maintenance periods, post fleet tie support periods, defect rectification periods and deep maintenance.
You will strategically lead a team, encourage a culture of imaginative thinking, learning from experience and driving for improved quality by challenging the status quo.
Your primary base is HMNB Devonport, however we operate a hybrid working environment where there is an expectation to attend site at least once a week, however this may vary dependent on business needs.

Responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Oversee the monthly financial forecasting process for the Delivery Team, including financial risk, and accurate and insightful commentary, challenge and variance analysis. Lead on the Financial input and information at the PM/CAM monthly FOO reviews to empower stakeholder decision making
- Work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders in providing technical accounting guidance, advising of key risks and ensuring the robustness of in-year reporting
- Act as key support to the business area to analyse, understand and report on financial performance against delivery schedules & targets, and provide analysis of risks and opportunities
- Manage an experienced and dynamic financial team ensuring appropriate delegation of work,support and development opportunities
- Advise, support and challenge other stakeholders to drive accurate accounting and forecasting of programme plans. Advise on accounting and forecasting implications of policy and programme decisions
- Oversee the monthly financial reporting, including an assessment of financial risk, and the provision of accurate and insightful commentary and variance analysis to support decisions made by the Senior Leadership Team. Lead on the Financial input and information at forecast reviews to empower stakeholder decision making
- Advise on good financial management to contribute to good governance
- Advocate and contribute to wider Finance Function responsibilities and activities whilst maintaining your CPD requirements
