The UKHSA ethos is to be an inclusive organisation for all our staff and stakeholders. We will create, nurture and sustain an inclusive culture, where differences drive innovative solutions to meet the needs of our workforce and wider communities. We do this through celebrating and protecting differences by removing barriers and promoting equity and equality of opportunity for all.

Job Overview

We are looking for a Service Designer to work within the Technology Business Partnering Team, which is part of UKHSA Technology.

The Technology Group vision is to protect the nation's health through technology; identifying, designing, developing, deploying, securing, and running reliable, credible and trusted IT services. We do this by delivering services which meet and maintain the Government Digital Service (GDS) Digital by Default Service Standard (https://www.gov.uk/service-manual/digital-by-default). And Technology Business Partnering is at the heart of that as we proactively partner, across UKHSA and beyond, to influence, design and deliver digital and technology products and services that underpin Agency objectives, and provide tangible, valued business and citizen health outcomes.

Job description

As a Service Designer, you will:

  • Design end-to-end services that meet UKHSA Technology requirements and business objectives, giving the same level of digital experience users expect from daily interaction with the most respected web services
  • Lead and co-ordinate design work in your team, supporting other designers where necessary
  • Work effectively in a multidisciplinary, agile environment, adapting quickly to changes in requirements, priorities or user needs
  • Use research and analytics to understand users’ needs, identify service failures and test different designs
  • Design collaboratively and in the open, reviewing each other's work adapting if necessary and developing shared patterns
  • Design accessible digital services and help others to do so, championing accessibility and inclusion, ensuring designs meet GDS service standards and legal requirements
  • Communicate credibly with a wide range of digital delivery disciplines and stakeholders at all levels of the Agency and beyond
  • Provide service design leadership and direction and contribute more widely to the future of service design across the Agency and government
  • Play an active role in the service design community, sharing your learning and celebrating progress made by other people and teams
  • Be a proactive member of the Technology Business Partnering team, leading by example in our core values of Insightful, Impactful and Inclusive

We pride ourselves as being an employer of choice, where Everyone Matters promoting equality opportunity to actively encourage applications from everyone, including groups currently underrepresented in our workforce.

UKHSA ethos is to be an inclusive organisation for all our staff and stakeholders. To create, nurture and sustain an inclusive culture, where differences drive innovative solutions to meet the needs of our workforce and wider communities.
