Job description

As Training and Accreditation Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the agency meets its statutory obligations in relation to the approval of regulated training. You will manage the approvals for training centres and courses for Driver CPC, Drink Drive Rehabilitation (DDR) and the Carriage of Dangerous Goods (ADR).

In this role, you will collaborate with internal colleagues to deliver the DVSA Accreditation scheme and work with a range of our external partners. You will also provide responses to enquiries from the public and from Ministers about training accreditation services.

Your key duties and activities will include:

  • Making decisions on applications for DCPC (Centre & Course) and DDR (Centre) approval, reviewing 100% of all medium and high-risk applications, identifying trends and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Reviewing application processes to improve the quality of information available to support decision-making.
  • Overseeing administration and issuing of decision letters for ADR (Centre, Instructor, and Online) applications, taking account of recommendations from contractors.
  • Making decisions on recommended remedial action for applications, investigating and identifying where errors have occurred in processing. Putting measures in place to minimise risks by working with the contractor.
  • Reviewing and making recommendations for the revocation of drivers training hours, in line with the agreed escalation processes.
  • Reviewing and making decisions on the withdrawal or suspension of centre approval, considering recommendations from contractor (JAUPT).
  • Line management responsibilities for a team of EO and AO colleagues.

Additional information

This role can be based in Bristol/Swansea/Nottingham/Newcastle/Leeds/Birmingham, your presence at one of these locations will form part of the working arrangements agreed with you. We operate a hybrid working model giving you greater flexibility about where and when you work. Our expectation is that you will spend a minimum 60% of your time at your base location. Visits to other DVSA sites or work locations count towards this.

Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 34 hours per week.

Person specification

About you

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, be engaging and articulate, and comfortable building positive relationships with internal teams and external partners.

You will have previous experience of supporting and managing others to deliver quality outcomes.

You will have the capability to grasp information quickly and be comfortable analysing detailed information to support decision making.

You will have experience of managing branch invoices, payments and reconciliation processes and be confident using Microsoft applications.
