Can I contact candidates directly?
Yes, you will need to follow up with candidates directly to proceed with any further stages of the recruitment process. When contacting candidates about their application, please be mindful of whether they have asked for any reasonable adjustments.
If you’re not using Patchwork Hub’s own candidate management system, candidates may not have had the chance to ask about reasonable adjustments. We recommend you ask them directly and clearly when reaching out to them.
We also ask that you ensure you have communicated in your job advert:
- What the further stages of the application process will involve
- How you will contact candidates to inform them about the status of their application
- The hiring manager’s contact information
This will be beneficial to candidates and enable them to let you know if they have any additional requirements.
If you will not be contacting all unsuccessful applicants directly, please mention this in your job advert. We ask that you try to contact candidates even if they are unsuccessful, but understand that it’s not always possible owing to capacity in exceptional circumstances.
