RAF Air Command, High Wycombe: Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The RCO also have offices at Cody Technology Park in Farnborough so travel to this, plus other locations, may be required as part of the role.

Job summary

This role, Personal Assistant to Hd RCO, will provide the successful application the opportunity to contribute towards the successful, effective, and efficient delivery of a range of high-profile and innovative capability programmes.

The Rapid Capabilities Office (RCO) is an exciting and challenging place to work, our mission is to drive the war fighters critical operational requirements through rapid and agile capability insertion and smart application risk appetite.  This is a fast moving and dynamic environment comprising of 6 separate groups delivering concept demonstrations through to development and delivery of capability, often outside of traditional capability and acquisition pathways.

As a civil servant you will work alongside military colleagues in jobs that matter; jobs which often have a direct impact on the quality of the operational capabilities the Royal Air Force delivers.  Roles can offer great job satisfaction and there are many opportunities to develop and progress both within the Department and across the wider Civil Service. 

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. 

Job description

Main Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and update electronic diaries, identifying and managing any conflicts, prioritising as appropriate.
  • Arranging meetings and corporate events, booking in visitors, and undertaking all necessary administrative and IT procedures, including national & international travel arrangements, prior to engagements/events.
  • Collate and organise briefing information packs for meetings, boards or conferences as required and within the timescales set using MS Office tools such as OneNote and Outlook.
  • Maintain effective electronic housekeeping and records management/retrieval processes, including safeguarding and handling of classified material in accordance with extant policy.
  • Ad-hoc administrative tasks to support outer office staff, always acting as a professional representative of Hd RCO.

External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.

Selection process details
