We are seeking a Tax Accountant who will play a pivotal role in supporting our Group Tax Director, Deputy Group Tax Director, and Head of Corporate Tax in the application of policies and procedures relating to SJP group’s tax affairs, specifically VAT, corporate taxes and employment taxes.

What you'll be doing:

  • Ownership of the day-to-day tax compliance for group companies in relation to VAT. Including preparation of Group VAT return for review by Deputy Group Tax Director, and onward submission to HMRC.
  • Oversight of the VAT compliance of group companies with separate VAT registrations. To include audit reviews.
  • Ownership of the day-to-day corporation tax compliance for group companies, including preparation of corporation returns for review by Head of Corporate Tax, submission to HMRC, calculation of quarterly instalment payments and other corporation tax administration matters.
  • Responsibility for fund tax oversight, including validation of the calculations performed by our outsource providers through to ultimate reporting of fund tax liability at company level. Liaison with these outsource providers as required and preparation of monthly and quarterly fund tax payments.
  • Support the corporate tax team in delivering monthly / half year / year end BAU tax accounting and reporting.
  • Ownership of the employee tax Global Mobility process, collation of data and liaison with outsource providers.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of regular VAT and corporate tax processes and provide assistance to the areas as required becoming the first point of call for colleagues on relevant tax queries
  • Support to Group Tax Department on projects and activities, as required.

Who we’re looking for:

  • To either be a qualified Accountant or Association of Taxation Technicians (or similar). CTA qualification is desirable, but otherwise a strong background in Corporation Tax or VAT is sufficient.
  • Strong understanding of VAT and corporate tax principles.
  • Previous experience in the financial services industry preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word.

  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Additional Information

  • Occasional travel to UK locations may be required.
